I was asked by my university to design a hypothetical vinyl cover for a song from the 21st century. I chose Carmen by Stromae.
Mind Map
I started mind mapping some ideas based on the song and the music video. I wrote down the songs main themes, and based on the music video, decided to use mainly the colours blue and pink.
Rough Thumbnails
I made some rough thumbnails and selected four of them for further development.
Refined Sketches
I started pondering what the back of the vinyl cover would look like. I also chose the three best ideas from my refined sketches.
Final Rough
I combined all my favourite ideas into one final rough. I also decided roughly what the back would look like.
Digital sketch
Here is a digital sketch I made. I had to redesign the bird to be closer to the bird in the Carmen music video.
