Metamorphosis, The Design Battleground
My university asked me to create a A1 sized poster and a 250 x 250 pixels sized digital banner advertising a graphic design exhibition that would be hypothetically hosted by the Finnish museum Designmuseo. My university explained the title of the exhibition was "Metamorphosis, The Design Battleground". The exhibition would show off radical theory and innovation in many different fields of design.
Mind Map
Based on the title I was given, I began mind-mapping out some ideas. I settled on using a butterfly to represent metamorphosis and revolutionary change.
Thumbnailing
I made about nine rough thumbnails and chose the four I thought best to build and improve on.
Colours
I played around with some colour combinations like green and sky blue or purple and magenta.
Reinvention
I wasn't completely pleased with my initial poster design. I tried several redesigns and this one stuck with me the most.
Version 1
I tried my initial design ideas in Illustrator and wasn't pleased with the result. I went back to my redesigns, experimented with my favourite redesign digitally, and ended up with the poster and banner you see at the top.
